The scope also incorporated installation of 150m of 600mm slot drainage with associated access and outlet boxes, forming a key connection within the airfield infrastructure.
Challenges and Execution
Delivered within a live airside environment on day shifts, the project required careful planning to manage winter paving conditions, coordination with multiple contractors, and integration around existing structures. Detailed sequencing and close stakeholder coordination ensured works progressed efficiently while maintaining safety and operational continuity. Strict programme control enabled the team to meet key milestones ahead of the Christmas deadline, while maintaining quality and budget compliance.
Benefits and Outcomes
Leveraging extensive Gatwick experience, Gill Civil delivered the taxiway connection safely and efficiently, maintaining uninterrupted airport operations throughout the works. The completed pavement provides a durable, high-performance solution, enhancing connectivity and supporting long-term airfield performance.
